Description
Weld Star – ER 307Si Stainless TIG Wire (1.6mm) 5kg
Weld Star – ER 307Si is an austenitic stainless steel TIG wire designed for welding alloys with a similar chemical composition. It’s ideal for severely corrosive environments, especially where crevice and pitting corrosion are concerns. The low carbon content minimizes the risk of intergranular carbide precipitation. However, it’s not suitable for structural service above 400°C or for cryogenic applications. The weld deposit is akin to 316L but has a high molybdenum content, enhancing its corrosion resistance.
Features and Benefits:
- Austenitic Stainless Steel: Suitable for welding alloys of a similar chemical composition, ensuring compatibility and strong welds.
- Corrosion Resistance: Ideal for severely corrosive environments, offering longevity and reliability.
- Low Carbon Content: Reduces the possibilities of intergranular carbide precipitation, ensuring consistent weld quality.
- High Molybdenum Content: Similar to 316L but with enhanced corrosion resistance due to increased molybdenum.
- High Mechanical Strength: Ensures durability and longevity of the weld.
- Excellent Crack Resistance: Provides reliability in challenging environments.
- Increased Silicon Content: Promotes a smooth deposit appearance, enhancing the weld’s aesthetics.
- Dissimilar Welding and Buffer Layers: Perfect for joining different metals and depositing stress-relaxing buffer layers.
Common Applications:
- Chemical and Petrochemical Industries: Suitable for equipment and machinery exposed to aggressive chemicals.
- Marine Environments: Ideal for marine and underwater applications due to its high corrosion resistance.
- Papermaking Industry: Used in equipment and machinery in paper production.
- Food Processing Industries: Ensures safe and corrosion-resistant welds for food processing equipment.
- Armour and Exhaust Systems: Suitable for welding armour plates and exhaust systems.
- High Manganese Austenitic Steel: Ideal for welding high manganese and other austenitic steels.
- Difficult to Weld Steels: Suitable for welding challenging steels like 42CrMo4, C45, 42MnV7, and tool steels.
Typical Base Materials
Armour plate, exhaust systems (type 409, 304), high Manganese austenitic steel, difficult to weld steels such as 42CrMo4, C45, 42MnV7, tool steels, 1.3401, X120Mn12 etc.*
