Steel Expanding Pipe Stoppers – 1.5″ to 42″

Expandable test plugs designed for purging and general pipe blocking applications. Pipe stoppers, also known as drain plugs, are utilized to temporarily seal pipe ends or openings for various testing purposes.

These pipe stoppers primarily seal newly installed pipes and pipework systems under repair from water, gases, and foreign objects. The pipe stopper range offers multiple styles to accommodate different applications, with pipe sizes ranging from ½” to 72″. Specialized pipe stoppers for pressure testing are also available.

Operating Mechanism

The design features a central spindle or shaft fitted with two plates and a natural rubber tire (ring) positioned between them. A wing nut on the shaft moves the plates together, compressing the tire to create a seal within the pipe.

These stoppers are available with hollow shaft versions for standard hose connections or use with fixed or free nipple caps.

Expandable pipe stoppers are manufactured in three material types: nylon, aluminium, and steel.

Steel Plugs

Steel plugs are designed for demanding applications including prolonged water immersion, elevated temperature exposure, or contact with acidic or alkaline environments where nylon and aluminium plugs may prove unsuitable.

All plugs comply with British Standards BS8005 for low pressure testing and pipe sealing requirements.
