Description
Weld Star – ER 385 Stainless TIG Wire (1.6mm) 5kg
Weld Star – ER 385 is a super austenitic stainless steel TIG wire designed for welding applications requiring high resistance to stress corrosion cracking. With its fully austenitic microstructure, this wire is less sensitive to ferrite and sigma phase precipitation. The high Ni content, combined with the addition of Cu, provides excellent resistance in sulphuric solutions. This wire is ideal for environments that are prone to pitting, crevice corrosion, and other aggressive forms of corrosion.
Features and Benefits:
- High Resistance to Stress Corrosion Cracking: Ensures longevity and reliability in corrosive environments.
- Pitting and Crevice Corrosion Resistance: Ideal for environments prone to localized forms of corrosion.
- Fully Austenitic Microstructure: Less sensitive to ferrite and sigma phase precipitation, ensuring consistent weld quality.
- High Ni and Cu Content: Offers excellent resistance in sulphuric solutions, enhancing the wire’s versatility.
- Compliance with Standards: Adheres to EN ISO 14343-A and AWS A5.9 standards, guaranteeing quality and consistency in performance.
- Versatile Welding Positions: Suitable for various welding positions as per EN ISO 6947, offering flexibility in welding applications.
- Shielding Gas Compatibility: Uses Argon as the shielding gas as per EN ISO 14175, ensuring a clean and contaminant-free weld.
Common Applications:
- Phosphoric Acid and Chemical Fertiliser Industries: Ideal for equipment and machinery exposed to aggressive chemicals.
- Hydrometallurgy: Suitable for processes involving the extraction of metals at elevated temperatures.
- Paper Industry: Used in equipment and machinery in paper production.
- Seawater Applications: Ideal for marine and underwater applications due to its high corrosion resistance.
