The Prep 8 is a highly regarded i/d locking, inline feed end prep machine known for its impressive working range of 2″ to 8″ and exceptional power. Its popularity stems from its remarkable power-to-weight ratio and the inclusion of an offset 4-jaw tool holder (chuck) that allows the utilization of up to 4 insert or form tools. This feature enables simultaneous external and internal bevelling of even the heaviest wall pipes and tubes.
Designed for portable, one-person operation, the Prep 8 is a true workhorse. Its size, power, and functionality make it a preferred choice for high-volume heavy-duty bevelling applications, whether on-site or in the fabrication shop.
Notably, the Prep 8 is torque reactive, meaning that the pipe or tube being bevelled does not need to be fixed in place. This feature proves particularly advantageous in on-site maintenance and repair situations. It is made possible by the design and strength of the thru shaft system, which securely locks onto the bore of the pipe.
The Prep 8 offers exceptional performance and versatility, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of heavy-duty bevelling applications.
Features & Advantages
The jaw system of the Prep 8 comprises three equilaterally positioned machined jaw segments. These segments are retained and locked on an inner grooved expansion shaft. The presence of grooves ensures that the jaws are securely held in position, setting it apart from systems that utilize metal or rubber bands for jaw retention. When the expansion nut is tightened, the jaws expand, locking tightly and maintaining a square alignment to the bore of the pipe. This design feature guarantees a secure and precise grip during the bevelling process.
