Description
SIFMIG 4043 – Aluminium MIG Wire – 1.2 mm x 2 Kg
SIFMIG 4043 is a high-quality aluminium MIG wire alloyed with 5% silicon. This alloy is known for its excellent flow characteristics and deep penetration capabilities. Its precision layer-wound design ensures positive and uninterrupted feeding, making it ideal for both semi-automated and fully-automated welding systems. The wire is specifically designed to provide strong welds on certain aluminium types, including duralumin and specific cast and wrought alloys. However, it’s worth noting that the weld may discolour if subjected to anodising.
Features & Benefits:
- 5% Silicon Content: Enhances flow characteristics and penetration for stronger welds.
- Precision Layer-Wound: Ensures consistent and uninterrupted feeding during the welding process.
- Versatile Welding Applications: Suitable for both semi-automated and fully-automated MIG welding systems.
- High Mechanical Properties: Offers a melting point of 635°C, an ultimate tensile strength of 120 N/mm², and a hardness rating of 40.
- Clean Welding: Designed to reduce the chances of contamination, ensuring that the parent metal surface is cleaned and fully degreased before welding.
Common Applications:
- Duralumin Welding: Ideal for welding duralumin, a type of hardened aluminium.
- Aluminium Alloys: Specifically designed for welding cast and wrought alloys like 6063 (H9), 6061 (H20), and 6082 (H30).
- 4 Series Aluminium: Can also be used for other 4 series aluminium, but the resulting weld may discolour if anodised.
- General Fabrication: Suitable for various fabrication tasks where aluminium welding is required.
Material To Be Welded
Suitable for welding duralumin, cast and wrought alloys 6063 (H9), 6061 (H20) and 6082(H30), as well as other 4 series aluminium. The resulting weld will discolour if anodised.
Pre-heating up to 120 degC may be necessary, subject to material size and thickness. Wire brushing between passes is recommended, to remove build up of surface oxides.
Ensure that the parent metal surface is cleaned and fully degreased prior to welding. Clean joints with a stainless steel brush.
