Description
308L Stainless Steel TIG Rods – 1.6 mm x 5 Kg
The Weld Star ER 308L is an austenitic stainless steel TIG wire with a low carbon content. This unique composition reduces the chances of intergranular carbide precipitation, enhancing its resistance to intergranular corrosion without the need for stabilizers like niobium or titanium. The wire offers commendable corrosion resistance, especially in nitric acid environments, and maintains good mechanical properties even at sub-zero temperatures down to -197ºC.
Features and Benefits:
- Reduced Carbide Precipitation: Low carbon content minimizes the risk of intergranular carbide precipitation.
- Enhanced Corrosion Resistance: Offers superior resistance to intergranular corrosion without using stabilizers.
- Optimal Performance in Nitric Acid: Exhibits good corrosion resistance in nitric acid settings.
- Retains Mechanical Properties: Maintains its mechanical properties even at extremely low temperatures.
- Versatile Applications: Suitable for applications requiring atmospheric corrosion resistance, including pipes, boilers, food processing, and chemical industries.
Common Applications:
- Pipes and Tubes: Ideal for constructing and repairing pipes and tubes.
- Boiler Engineering: Suitable for boiler manufacturing and maintenance.
- Food Processing: Ensures safe and durable welding for food processing equipment.
- Chemical Industries: Perfect for applications exposed to various chemicals.
Welding Information:
- Shielding Gas: EN ISO 14175 recommends TIG welding with I1 (Argon) for optimal results.
- Welding Positions: Suitable for various positions as per EN ISO 6947, including PA, PB, PC, PD, PE, PF, and PG.
